What is a GLASS Project?

The projects for Tandon Honors students in the Global Leaders & Scholars in STEM program consists of a culmination of various experiences, research, and interests related to the Tandon Areas of Research Excellence. Scholars are also required to address the NAE Grand Challenges and think about the United Nations Sustainability Development Goals when doing so. At the end of the 3 years in the GLASS Program, students have a better understanding of the impact they can have on changing the world for the better. GLASS students enter the world as globally competent and socially responsible innovators and engineers!

Mission Statement/Progress *

  • I am interested in enhancing the resilience and efficiency of power distribution and transmission infrastructure. My focus lies in utilizing advanced engineering solutions to improve electrical equipment, optimize existing systems, and design innovative power distribution technologies.

  • I have worked with critical electrical infrastructure at Amazon warehouses, hospitals, and subway systems, gaining direct exposure to real-world power distribution challenges. My experience in the construction and electrical fields has further reinforced my ability to design, implement, and troubleshoot power systems with efficiency and reliability in mind.

  • Through my studies at NYU Tandon, I have taken courses such as Physics 1 & 2, Calc 1-3, Circuits, Signals & Systems and other technical disciplines that have deepened my understanding of high-voltage systems, power grids, and electrical schematics.

  • Moving forward, I need to do more technical research to refine system optimization techniques, and datasets to enhance equipment performance and reliability.

Areas of Excellence

My expertise lies in power distribution, high-voltage systems, and electrical infrastructure, directly aligning with NYU’s commitment to sustainability. As the world transitions to cleaner energy, optimizing power grids, enhancing equipment efficiency, and integrating renewable energy sources are critical to building a resilient and sustainable future.
